Vignettes, Lessons and Stories
Written by Members of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Class of 1985
Before I asked the members of our Stanford Business School class to submit vignettes, lessons and stories for this book, I came up with four master sections under which to categorize the pieces. The four sections were Investment Banking, Management Consulting, Finance and Markets, and Sales and Marketing.
To my surprise, none of the more than eighty submissions fit any of these four categories. Instead, all of the essays deal broadly with family, faith, inequity in society and how to correct it, and how to make the world a more just and equitable planet for our progeny to live on.
It seems we are a bunch of humanitarians, environmentalists and idealists who look beyond ourselves and care about more than just our own material success. Who would have thought?
I am proud of who we have become. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have enjoyed putting it together.
